Sunday, June 22

Well, the nest has been empty for about a year now. It doesn't seem like that long. I guess the empty feeling part of the empty nest is still there.

The youngest, left a year ago April 1st. He is starting a career in the prosthetics field. I'm so proud of him. I think he may have found his niche. He is ten hours away, but calls frequently. Glad he has the grand-dog with him to keep him company. Moving to a new city and not knowing anyone has made this an adventure, I'm sure. He always has been the adventurous type. Whitewater rafting, backpacking in Alaska, moving so far from home. I miss him and the grand-dog. But am glad they have each other.

The oldest left a year ago May 9. He was floating around after college. Couldn't figure out where he was headed. He decided he could use his skills in the U.S. Navy. Of course they were happy to get someone with his education and skills and made him all the right promises. He was an honor graduate from boot camp and again from A school. Currently, oldest is a Petty Officer 1st class, attending C school. Also very proud of this one.

I think Hubby and I have found something we can do together to keep us busy and fulfill our need to be creative. Photography is filling the void for us. We took a digital photography class and that was a lot of fun. Getting together with our group of eight once a week and talking about nothing but taking pictures. It has made me stretch myself creatively. I am really loving this. Hubby got me the camera for my birthday. Spent way too much, but I'm glad he did!

Speaking of Hubby, we celebrated 30 years of marriage in April. It doesn't seem possible. Makes me feel kind of old. Now that we have a common hobby and time to pursue it, the next 30 years should be a breeze!
